The Modern Digital Age
In 1995, I received my first SLR camera (film of course) as a birthday gift from my parents, so that I could take a photography class in high school. After a year of learning to process my own film, then expose and then develop the prints. After Adobe Photoshop 2.5 was released, I spent the next 6 years scanning my prints into the digital darkroom.
I experimented on the computer with things I simply didn't have the patience to create in the dim solitude of the dark room.
In 2001, my life changed forever with the $3,000 Canon D10, the first consumer priced digital SLR with 5 megapixels. The day of expensive materials and time intensive process of developing and printing were over.
First time photographers had options to experiment like never before, which makes me so happy to be born in the digital revolution.
In the 20 years I've been shooting, everything has changed. This little hobby of mine has turned into an obsession. Photography can be a lucrative hobby and an expensive one. It depends on the moment.
I've learned from many photographers, books, blogs, teachers and professors over the years, and now, I want to return the service in the form of a walk-through of how I think about and use all the photography tools at my disposal.
I'm excited to share the journey!
