Evolution: Always Layered
This is a step-by-step look at the layers used to create this image. I took a test portrait of Brynlee, to set the lights. Nothing special. But her casual expression was so perfectly neutral, I knew right off I wanted the image...to evolve.
First the Crop, then I mirrored the right-side of the image onto the left. I then added Healing, Dodging and Burning, then perspective shift and some color. Each layer was done by hand with my Wacom Intuous 4, each line above Brynlee's eye, to the swirls on her cheeks was meticulously sketched on individual layers with varied Modes.
