True Love in the Labyrinth of Time
Salvador Dali was a 20th century master of surrealism. His dream-like paintings are full of symbolism reminiscent of Freud's study of the subconscious. Dali himself used the term "critical paranoia," to describe the state from which he drew inspiration. (The Art Story) Walter Elias "Walt" Disney was a television showman, cartoon visionary.
In 1945, a secret collaboration between the two artistic giants began. A short film tells the tale fifty-eight years later, which Dali described as, "a magical display of the problem of life in the labyrinth of time." Walt Disney said the film was, "a simple story, about a young girl in search of true love."
The film went unfinished due to financial difficulties related to World War II. In 1999, Roy E. Disney, Walt Disney's nephew, discovered the lost work, and completed the film with help from director Dominique Monfery.
