Late Summer 2011
Two Day Photography Workshop. Oakley, Utah
I received an email from Skip Klein, a photographer from Maryland, and who had some fabulous property in the Utah mountains. He wanted to offer us use of a private lake, horses, trees, and cabins, and one gorgeous tub to host our next photography workshop.
An offer we couldn't refuse! About a dozen Photographers converged onto a couple of acres of property in Oakley, Utah where we challenged the attendees to create images that showed their individual styles as photographers with styled models and several different lighting setups.
-Styled by Steven Robertson and Paula Dahlberg
-Photography workshop by Jake Garn & Ryan Muirhead
-Assisted by Dave Brewer & Steven Wood
~ Following are selected images created that day ~
Photographer Jeff Yeats
Jeff's cinematic eye for light, angles and framing is beautifully manifested in this series of images. The models each look present with a mind far off in thought, implying any number of stories we the observers could read into. Gorgeous work!
Photographer and filmaker Jeff Yeats continues to produce brilliant films and images!
Photographer Steven Wood
Talk about style! Steven Wood was able to join us for a single day and create a series images that have a delightful tone and coloring. Give the images a visual flavor that tastes of an entirely different era.
Photographer David Miller
If memory serves David Miller was using film giving his images a stunning rich feel. Film really has a distinct feel, dripping with emotion and depth. Love these!
Photographer Emily Bailey
Emily uses the negative space brilliantly. I love how she gets down so low in so many of these shots creating a unique viewpoint.
Photographer Tammy Eppens
I love Tammy's use of foreground and background. Creating subjects out of shadows was fabulous and using a variety of backlight, low light, and bright light is impressive!
Photographer John Pickett
I loved John's use of different frames for these images and the subtle motions of wind blown hair that he captured. Backlight with Heather is wonderful!
Hi, I'm Jake Garn. I hosted this live photography workshop five years ago. Photography workshops are a lot of planning, coordination and preparation yet seeing these images today made me nostalgic to get out and shoot with a whole bunch of photographers again. Leave a comment if you'd be interested in joining!
These are just words in an empty room without your comments... please leave one!
